Day 1

Your arrival in Skradin

Once you arrive in Croatia, we will take you to the town of Skradin where a room will be waiting for you at the three-star hotel Kradinski Buk. The small and charming town of Skradin was named after the famous Skradinski Buk waterfall in the river Krka, inside National Park Krka. From all Croatian settlements with a town status, Skradin is the oldest one. During Roman times it was the capital of Liburnia and in the 14th century it was the most important war harbor of Croatia and Bosnia.

Not only the history of Skradin is captivating, but also its natural beauty and attractive surroundings. The view over Skradin from the nearby highway bridge has even been nominated for the Golden Flower of Europe, a prestigious award for the most beautiful belvedere from a European highway.

After your arrival, all participants will get together for a nice meal, and a presentation of the trip will be given. Afterwards, you will have the evening to yourself to explore Skradin and maybe visit one of its cozy cafes or taverns.

  • Meals: Dinner
  • Transfer from the airport to Skradin via minivan (duration of the trip from Split: 1h 30min, from Zadar: 1h)

Day 2

Island Zlarin sea kayaking adventure, with the option of visiting Sibenik

You will start the kayaking trip in the little town of Zablace, not far from Sibenik. A short introduction to paddling will be given and then the expedition to Zlarin island will start. The distance from the mainland in Zablace to Zlarin island is only 2km. You will paddle along the island coastline towards the town of Zlarin, where you will have break and an opportunity to swim or have a picnic. After the beak, the rest of the island shore and the beautiful coastline of Sibenik will be explored. We will pass the impressive St Nicholas Fortress at the entrance of the Sibenik Canal before reaching the town of Sibenik itself. Before heading back to Skradin, you have the option to visit Sibenik for an interesting sightseeing tour. This centuries-old city with its famous cathedral and typical Dalmatian cobblestone streets is definitely worth a visit.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner (lunch on your own)
  • Kayaking: 4 to 5 hours

Day 3

Cycling in National Park Krka and visiting the monastery on the island of Visovac

Krka National Park is one of Croatia’s most popular national parks and a great place to explore by bike. You will cycle to the 44m high Skradinski Buk waterfall, from where you visit the other rapids and waterfalls in this amazing park on foot. After discovering all the natural beauties in the Krka river and, of course, taking lots of photos from the famous panorama points, you will have some time to relax. Take a swim in the natural swimming pool underneath the Skradinski Buk waterfall, or have a picnic on the meadow from where you can enjoy this unique scenery.

After the break, you will continue your cycling tour through the beautiful landscape of the Sibenik hinterland, near the Krka river. Let the road take you past interesting historic sights and through the enchanting landscape of forests and hills. Soon you will reach the boat that will take you across Visovac Lake to the famous Franciscan monastery and its museum that holds a valuable archeological collection. After the boat brings you back to the shore, there will be some time to rest and swim, and enjoy a picnic lunch. On the downhill bike ride back to Skradin one more surprise is waiting for you: a panoramic view over Lake Prokljan.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner (lunch on your own)
  • Cycling: 4 to 5 hours, moderate level with optional van support

Day 4

River Zrmanja and Krupa kayaking experience

After an early start you will head off to the village of Kastel Zegarski for a kayaking trip in wild-west style on the Krupa and Zrmanja rivers. On the day, the river conditions will decide if you will use a sit-on-top kayak or another type of watercraft, such as a raft or a canoe. Get ready for an afternoon of fun and adventure on these two beautiful rivers with their clear and warm water. You will travel through steep-sided canyons, conquer easy rapids, see plenty of waterfalls and discover hidden swimming pools. It will be an exciting day full of action and fun challenges.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner (lunch on your own)
  • Van transfer (duration: 45 min)
  • Kayaking or rafting: 4 to 5 hours, class II-III rapids

Day 5

Several trips can be arranged, from beach trips to climbing, hiking, canyoning or sightseeing. If you decide to take a trip on this day, and the weather conditions are in your favor, please note that an additional fee of around 50 Euro p.p. (based on minimum 4 participants) will be charged and will need to be paid on site.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner (lunch on your own)

Day 6

National Park Paklenica trekking, followed by sightseeing in Zadar

After another early start, you will head off to National Park Paklenica, Croatia’s rock climbing and trekking paradise. The park has a size of almost 100km² and offers two impressive canyons, the Mala Paklenica (small Paklenica) and Velika Paklenica (large Paklenica) that are carved into the southern slopes of the Velebit mountain, Croatia’s largest mountain range and part of the Dinaric Alps. The diversity in the park is extraordinary, from the unusual mountain shapes to the untouched nature and rich flora and fauna. Nomadic shepherds have always lived in the mountains and plenty of summertime mountain residences have been built in the area throughout history, some of them still remain today. You might also find some ruins of sacral buildings on your way, such as chapels, altars and even churches. Due to the rough landscape, hiking is the only way to really get to know this interesting place. In case you are wondering what the name Paklenica means, it comes from the old word for pine resin, called ‘paklina’. The resin is found in trees all over the area and the locals used it for medicinal purposes and for coating their boats for instance.

After experiencing the peace and tranquility of the park, it is time to join the vibrant city life in Zadar. Zadar is an amazing historic city with a rich cultural offer, an interesting boulevard and plenty of shops and restaurants. You will surely enjoy your Zadar sightseeing tour.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner (lunch on your own)
  • Van transfer (duration: 1:15 min)
  • Hiking: 3 to 4 hours
  • Sightseeing Zadar: 2 hours

Day 7

Rafting on the Cetina River near Omis and visiting Trogir or Split

Day 7 of your active holiday in Dalmatia will take you to the town of Omis, for a rafting adventure on the Cetina river. The Cetina River near Omis is a popular rafting location and the river is safe enough for children and beginners. On your way down the river you will see beautiful waterfalls and caves and the surrounding forest will give you the feeling that you are deep in a jungle. At the end of the river ride you will see the Radman Mills, these centuries old mills used the power of the water in the Cetina river for wheat milling. Nowadays there is a charming restaurant where an optional lunch can be taken.

Afterwards you will continue to either Split or Trogir, the choice is yours as a group. Both towns offer amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites and lots of interesting sightseeing options. In Split, for instance, the impressive palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian is a must see, and the fairytale cobble stone streets and lovely boulevard of Trogir are also amazing. The rich history and culture of these popular coastal towns is something you really don’t want to miss.
