Our City Guide
Dubrovnik’s baroque architecture and luxurious marble streets are the first thing you’ll note when seeing the city for the first time. Easily one of the world’s most beautiful walled cities – Dubrovnik offers so much to those that travel there. We love to lounge on the picture perfect beaches, stroll the pedestrian only old town taking in the Baroque churches and striking red roof houses before resting in quaint cafes, taking in hundreds of years worth of architecture (Sponza Palace and the historic 12th century pharmacy) and eating divine dinners in the city’s astounding collection of waterside restaurants. Dusk is our favourite time in the city – when the streets become dark and dimly lit by orange tinted streetlights, and Dubrovnik’s finest take their heels out to play in what is by far one of Croatia’s most exciting nightlifes – either don your most exquisite outfit to join the throngs or take it all in from the deck of a yacht perched in the marina. This mix of old world charm, exciting nightlife and absolutely stunning beaches make Dubrovnik a superb choice for a twin centre holiday in Croatia.
Korcula’s astounding natural beauty is heavenly to say the least. The island is one of the greenest in the Adriatic and is lush with olive groves and vineyards – making it perfect for those who like to explore Croatia’s much loved wine varieties. The southern part of the island is formed by small quiet beaches and private coves where it’s possible to spend an entire day without seeing another person. Head inland to the main city of Korcula for an authentic small island market day – which serves, along with the islands 300 residents, a slow but steady stream of tourists. A small island town such as Korcula is a must see during your holidays to Croatia.
3000 years of sporadic urban development has left Rome’s cityscape as an exhilarating spectacle. The ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Pantheon and Roman Forum recall the time as that Rome was regarded as the fearsome hub of the Roman Empire. With the Vatican, St Peter’s Basilica is the greatest of Rome’s monumental basilicas, a soaring masterpiece from the Renaissance era. A wealth of ornate piazzas and elaborate churches add a baroque style flourish to the city’s historic streets.
A trip to Rome is all about relaxing into the city’s Mediterranean rhythms and exploring its picturesque streets. Spending a few hours instreet side cafes and people-watching on pretty piazzas is an integral part of the Roman experience. In the evening the tempo certainly rises as the soaring heat of the day fades and the fashionably dressed crowd descend on Rome’s bars and cafes. Restaurants and trattorias are a hive with activity and hordes about Rome’s popular haunts before heading off to cocktail bars and night clubs.
The historic city of Florence is small enough to explore by foot, with a wealth of treasures packed into this small city. The glorious Brunelleschi’s dome floats above all of Florence with its picturesque pedestrianised streets bringing you to some of the city’s favourite sights including Piazza dellaSignoria with its marvellous Renaissance statues or the popular Uffizi art gallery. Florence has a unique and beautiful style that permeates through everything from its street market shops to its restaurants and snack bars.
