On leaving the park, you will spend two days in Split, exploring the fascinating architecture and the 1600-year old marble maze of the Diocletian’s Palace. We transfer to cosmopolitan Hvar Island, where you can join the private tour of Hvar Town. You will also have time to explore the magnificent coastline of the surrounding islands from the extraordinary Blue Cave, and to indulge in refreshing swim stops at an enticing collection of secluded coves and inlets. DAY 1 ZAGREB
Your exciting Central European 12-day private tour starts in Zagreb, Croatia’s capital and largest city. You will be escorted to your hotel. After checking in, join our English speaking private guided tour of this glorious pocket-sized city. You will visit the major attractions and get an introduction to the rich, turbulent history of this vibrant city. As Croatia’s cultural and economic hub, Zagreb is a lively destination, with a fascinating blend of Austro-Hungarian heritage and classical Viennese architecture. DAY 2 ZAGREB
Enjoy your second day in Zagreb at your leisure. You can explore the city’s vast cultural and historic sights, visit the medieval district, or take a cable car ride to the Upper Town. Alternatively, you can join the optional day trip to the fairytale Trakoscan Castle, and to the restored hilltop Veliki Tabor Fortress. The nearby town of Varazdin also boasts many interesting ornate baroque palaces, churches and park-like cemeteries that are well worth exploring. Dine in one of the charming local restaurants to experience genuine Croatian hospitality. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 3 PLITVICE
Bid farewell to Zagreb, as we head to one of Croatia’s most popular destinations. Plitvice Lakes National Park is UNESCO-protected and boasts 16 inter-linked lakes, breathtaking waterfalls and stunning flora and indigenous fauna. Take a stroll around the park and admire the cascading waterfalls from the quaint wooden bridges that span the crystal-clear waters of the freshwater lakes. Enjoy a scenic boat ride, followed by a panoramic train ride in the amazing natural paradise. In the evening, you can relax in a local bistro, bar or restaurant. Overnight in Plitvice.
DAY 4 SPLIT
Best known for its imposing UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, Split is Croatia’s second largest city and our midday destination. On arrival, join our private guided tour of the Old Town to discover the popular major highlights of the city, with a brief history lesson on the local historical details. Split is embellished with ancient Roman and medieval architecture that enhances its rich heritage. Spend the evening promenading along the Riva waterfront, hiking to the top of Marjan Hill, or dining on delicious local cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. Overnight in Split.
DAY 5 SPLIT
Spend today doing exactly as you please. You have a free day to visit the sights and attractions in the city that particularly appeal to your personal interests. You can take a scenic boat trip to the picturesque town of Trogir that also boasts a medieval UNESCO-listed Old Town, delightful cobbled streets and a marina. If you prefer to relax there are plenty of places where you can sit back and enjoy the scenic views. Lose yourself in the marble maze of Diocletian’s Palace and explore the living heart of the city. Overnight in Split.
DAY 6 HVAR
Hvar has a jet-set reputation and is recognised as one of the most beautiful and pristine islands in Croatia. Today, we visit the island’s Old Town to admire the typically Mediterranean whitewashed houses, against the gorgeous backdrop of green hills and vibrant aquamarine sea. Join our private guided tour of the local landmarks and learn all about the town’s history. The best views of Hvar Bay and the Pakleni Island archipelago can be enjoyed from the Fortica Fortress. Explore the narrow streets, and shop for souvenirs of organic lavender products that are grown on the unspoiled island. Overnight in Hvar.
DAY 7 HVAR
A visit to the local Blue Cave is not to be missed. The blue grotto is a natural phenomenon that can only be accessed by boat. The sun’s rays create an atmospheric blue light as they filter through and catch the water. The boat trip also explores nearby coves. Enjoy a swim stop in the emerald waters of the Green Cave and Monk Seal Cave. Snorkel in the crystal clear water and explore the hidden coves. End the day strolling around the historic fishing town of Komiža and enjoying a delicious meal of freshly prepared seafood. Overnight in Hvar.
DAY 8 HVAR
A final day in Hvar gives you the opportunity to relax on one of the beautiful local beaches, or to sail around the Pakleni Islands. You can also join our optional wine tasting tour, and visit the charming towns and villages dotted all over the jet-set island, on our Jeep Safari tour. You can do as little or as much as you like on the longest and sunniest island in the Adriatic Sea. Admire the natural beauty of your surroundings, and enjoy an eating and drinking experience that is typical Dalmatian. Overnight in Hvar.
DAY 9 DUBROVNIK
We continue heading southeast along the Dalmatian Coast to Dubrovnik. One of the most beautiful UNESCO-listed cities in the world is your destination for the next two days. Check into your hotel, and join our private guided tour of the Old Town. You will discover all of the film locations of the popular TV show, Game of Thrones, and visit the historic landmarks of this stunning waterfront city. Take the cable car to the top of Srdj Mount, for panoramic vistas across Dubrovnik and the Elaphite Islands. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 10 DUBROVNIK (MONTENEGRO)
Another exciting day of sightseeing is in store for you today. You will be visiting the city of Kotor in neighbouring Montenegro. The UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site was built between the 12th and 14th centuries and was at one time the settlement of the Romans and early Christians. Medieval city walls surrounding the Fortress of Saint Ivan also protect the city of Kotor, and stretch out for two miles in total. You will also have an opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views around the beautiful Kotor Bay. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
DAY 11 DUBROVNIK
You have a final day to explore the magnificent Dubrovnik. It’s recommended that you take a walk along the top of the old city walls to watch the waves splashing against the fortifications far below. The Old Town has an abundance of palatial buildings, galleries and restaurants to inspire you. You can also hop across to the unspoiled Lokrum Island via boat. As well as being a nature reserve, the island is the site of the 11th century Benedictine monastery and home to peacocks and wildlife. Alternatively, join our half-day wine tasting tour of Bosnia’s local wines. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
