Day 1 – Arrival to Split
Welcome to Split! As a second-biggest city in Croatia, Split is the main harbour in Dalmatia region and a starting point for many holidaymakers.
The Diocletian’s Palace makes the core of the Old Town and a symbol of modern-day Split, incorporating an eclectic combination of Roman temples, Gothic palaces and modern Mediterranean-style stone houses.
We will organise a private tour of Diocletian’s Palace and Old Town so you can learn about Split’s history in great detail.
Don’t miss Riva, Split’s palm tree-lined promenade, panorama from Marjan hill or simply walking the cobbled streets of the Old Town, infused with history.
Day 2 – OPTIONAL Explore Trogir and Klis fortress
To start your day, visit Klis fortress, lodged in the mountain above Split. In the past, it served as a line of defence against Mongols and Ottoman empire.
Later, continue towards Trogir. This Medieval island town is another UNESCO-listed site in Croatia. Walk the streets of Trogir admiring preserved Kamerlengo castle and tower and a series of dwellings and palaces from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Connected with Trogir via bridge is Čiovo island, and with a short walk or a taxi drive, you can spend part of your day enjoying beautiful beaches.
Day 3 – OPTIONAL Visit Krka Waterfalls National Park and city of Sibenik
If you’d like to change scenery and swap cityscapes for landscapes, head over to Krka Waterfalls national park. Enjoy beautiful waterfalls and lakes and stroll along pathways winding through the lush flora. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit as you’ll have an opportunity to have a swim in front of stunning Skradinski Buk waterfall. Afterwards, visit city of Sibenik and admire its UNESCO-listed St James’s cathedral and fortresses surrounding the city. It’s possible to extend the visit so you can visit the local ethno village, with demonstrations in traditional food preparation, or visit birds of prey sanctuary.
Day 4 – Arrival to Brac
After breakfast, our driver will take you to Split harbour where you will board a ferry to Brac island.
Check into the hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Explore picturesque town, relax at the beach and enjoy local cuisine, surrounded by lush nature and beautiful sea views. Brac island is very cycle-friendly, so if you wish to explore the inland villages, olive groves, vineyards and coastline further, cycling is one of the best ways to do so.
Day 5 – OPTIONAL Blue Cave tour with 5 islands
If you’re up for an adventure, board a speedboat for a small group tour of 5 islands and an unforgettable visit to the Blue Cave, a stunning natural phenomenon, wowing visitors with its ethereal blue glow.
Spend the day cliff jumping, snorkelling, cave diving and discovering hidden coves and beaches, accompanied by an experienced guide.
Day 6 – OPTIONAL Explore Brac island
Go on a tour with a private driver, who will drive you up St Vid mountain for stunning panoramic views of Zlatni Rat beach and island of Hvar in front. Afterwards, you will visit Blaca Hermitage, then Skrip, the oldest village on the island, containing museum of island of Brac and Museum of Olive oil, where you can learn more about the production of ‘liquid gold’.
You can stop for lunch or olive oil/wine tasting on the way.
Day 7 – OPTIONAL Sea kayaking or buggy safari
If you like to be active on your holiday, why don’t you go sea kayaking along the clear waters of the northern side of the island, or join a buggy safari, exploring unbeaten paths, zipping through the olive groves and quarries.
These two activities offer unique perspective of Brac island and allow you to explore its natural beauty – and having fun whilst doing so!
Our Guide to Split and Brac
Split’s most striking feature is the stunning UNESCO listed Diocletian’s Palace, a Roman monument that stands at the centre of the city and is now filled with bars, restaurants and shops. The Palace was an inspiration for Robert Adam’s new style of neoclassical architecture – a simplification of rococo and baroque style – it has a good selection of bars on the ground floor and upper levels as well as a maze of underground temples and tunnels beneath it that add a layer of mystery to any visit there.
The city balances tradition and modernity with a fabulous zeal – there is an excellent collection of modern bars and restaurants along the Riva, incredible pieces of architecture including the towering Split Cathedral, the colourful Croatian National Theatre and of course the gorgeous harbour. Split is also an ideal location in which to explore the beautiful islands of Hvar and Vis or visit the nearby KRKA National Park and historic town of Trogir.
Brac’s sumptuous white beaches are world famous – but the most famous of them all is the pointed pebbly Zlatni Rat beach at the popular seaside town of Bol. There are several towns and typical sleepy villages to explore, as well as miles of beautiful countryside adorned with pine forests, fields of rosemary and bright flowers, and steep viewing points where it’s possible to look as far as Hvar. Interestingly the white stone that created both the Diocletian’s Palace in Split and the Whitehouse in Washington is from Brac.
Brac is also a fantastic destination for young and old with a wide range of watersports, tours and activities for everyone.
