As a millennium-long centre of power, culture and religion, you can visit the iconic Colosseum, the Vatican City or relax in the Borghese gardens amongst Mediterranean trees and tranquil fountains.
Day 2 Rome – Private Walking Tour
You will meet our guide for a private walking tour of all the main sites of this iconic capital of culture.
3000 years of sporadic development has left Rome’s cityscape as an exhilarating spectacle. The ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Pantheon and Roman Forum recall the time as that Rome was regarded as the fearsome hub of the Roman Empire.
You will explore its picturesque street and in the late afternoon sunshine and have time to spend in street-side cafes and people-watching on pretty piazzas. A wealth of ornate piazzas and elaborate churches add a baroque style flourish to the city’s historic streets. The tempo certainly rises as the soaring heat of the day fades and the fashionably dressed crowd descend on Rome’s bars, trattorias and cafes.
DAY 3 Transfer to Florence
Transfer by train, travelling in a first-class carriage, to the historic city of Florence and will then check into your boutique hotel. The city is small enough to explore by foot, with a wealth of treasures packed in. This city is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world due to its impact on art, music, architecture and religion. After checking into the hotel, explore a section of this remarkable city at your own pace, enjoying the glorious Brunelleschi’s dome and the picturesque pedestrianised streets. Visit some of the city’s favourite sights, including Piazza della Signoria with its marvellous Renaissance statues or the popular Uffizi art gallery. Florence has a unique and beautiful style that permeates through everything from its street market shops to its restaurants and snack bars.
DAY 4 Florence – Private Walking Tour
Meet your guide for an inspirational private guided tour of the city. Your guide leads you along the wide boulevards at the heart of the historic centre to reach the renowned galleries of the Uffizi. The Medici funded the structure to house the magistrate of Florence in the 16th century. Learn about its famous art, architecture and history as you see sights like Ponte Vecchio and Florence Cathedral, aka the Duomo. See Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and the Uffizi courtyard and learn about Florence’s rich Renaissance history and architecture. You can marvel at the famous statue of David at the Accademia art gallery and enjoy an evening sampling the local delicacies in a pavement café.

Where streets should be, Venice has its famous canals including the Grand Canal with its shimmering waters, a photographer’s dream. What was once a once a wealthy trade centre between Europe and the East, is now a mixture of palaces and churches which reflect centuries of history. Getting lost in Venice’s narrow alleys is as much a part of exploring this wonderful city, as is enjoying an expresso or delicious ice cream from a Gelateria on the Piazza San Marco. DAY 6 Venice – Private Walking Tour
Discover the hidden gems of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Venice on an action-packed private walking tour where you will explore its narrow streets and cross some of the 400 wonderful bridges. DAY 8 Opatija – Plitvice Lakes National Park Day Trip
Take the private day trip to Croatia’s lake district – the largest National Park in the country – a natural wonderland of enchanting lakes that cascade unto one another via a series of waterfalls that emerge from cracks in eroded rocks and from beneath thick vegetation. It creates a landscape that wouldn’t be out of place in the deepest lakes of China or Vietnam. A chain of 16 terraced lakes and waterfalls that extend into a limestone canyon. Take to the walkways and hiking trails that wind around and across the water or catch the electric boat that links the 12 upper and 4 lower lakes. A day out to enjoy mother nature’s phenomenon!

Today we transfer by catamaran to one of Croatia’s most famous and must-see locations – the wonderful island of Hvar. Hvar Town is set against a backdrop of sun-bleached white houses and tranquil turquoise sea and exudes the magical Mediterranean charm of yesteryear. For the best views over the town centre, hike to the top of Fortica Fortress. Explore the island’s maze of meandering streets and the quaint cafes, restaurants and shops selling unique artisan crafts and wonders. Escape to the neighbouring Pakleni islands, or enjoy free evening time relaxing in the welcoming, friendly atmosphere of this jet-set island.
DAY 12 Hvar – Blue Cave & Komiza speedboat, small group tour
Today we visit the magnificent Blue Cave (also known as the Blue Grotto) to discover its unique illumination attraction, a natural phenomenon that can only be accessed by speedboat.
