Day 1 – Arrival in Venice

 

Arrive by private airport transfer to the romantic city of Venice, a city certainly like none other. Take a moment to settle into the comforts of your luxurious hotel before exploring at your leisure. Where streets should be, Venice has its famous canals including the Grand Canal with its shimmering waters, a photographer’s dream. What was once a once a wealthy trade centre between Europe and the East, is now a mixture of palaces and churches which reflect centuries of history. Getting lost in Venice’s narrow alleys is as much a part of exploring this wonderful city, as is enjoying an expresso or delicious ice cream from a Gelateria on the Piazza San Marco. Enjoy one of the cafes, that offer the rich aroma of fresh coffee, around the 118 connected islands that create the single city of Venice.

Day 2 – Venice – Private Walking Tour

 

Discover the hidden gems of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Venice on an action-packed private walking tour where you will explore its narrow streets and cross some of the 400 wonderful bridges. Our experienced local guide will enlighten you with stories of local secrets as you visit a variety of iconic sites such as St. Mark’s Square, the Grand Canal and Doge’s Palace. You will also have the opportunity to discover Venice’s rich art scene and admire the beautiful architecture including lavish palaces, churches and towers above the narrow canals and rippling waters of the Venetian Lagoon. The opulent palace of Ca d’Oro offers a perfect example of Venetian Gothic architecture. Finish the afternoon by taking a relaxing gondola ride down the hidden passageways and beneath the arching stone bridges.

Florence, Italy

DAY 3 – Transfer to Florence

 

Transfer by train, travelling in a first-class carriage, to the historic city of Florence, which is small enough to explore by foot, with a wealth of treasures packed in.  This city is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world due to its impact on art, music, architecture and religion.  After checking into the hotel, explore a section of this remarkable city at your own pace, enjoying the glorious Brunelleschi’s dome and the picturesque pedestrianised streets. Visit some of the city’s favourite sights, including Piazza della Signoria with its marvellous Renaissance statues or the popular Uffizi art gallery. Florence has a unique and beautiful style that permeates through everything from its street market shops to its restaurants and snack bars.

DAY 4 – Florence – Private Walking Tour

 

Meet your guide for an inspirational private guided tour of the city. Your guide leads you along the wide boulevards at the heart of the historic centre to reach the renowned galleries of the Uffizi. The Medici funded the structure to house the magistrate of Florence in the 16th century. Learn about its famous art, architecture and history as you see sights like Ponte Vecchio and Florence Cathedral, aka the Duomo. See Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and the Uffizi courtyard and learn about Florence’s rich Renaissance history and architecture. You can marvel at the famous statue of David at the Accademia art gallery and enjoy an evening sampling the local delicacies in a pavement café.

DAY 5 – Arrival in Rome

 

Transfer by train, travelling in a first-class carriage, whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Italian countryside where vineyards and pastures swell along the verdant hills. After checking into your hotel, you will have time to explore a section of this enchanting city. Admire the statue of the famous Florentine poet Dante Alighieri, overlooking the wide piazza and visit the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli.

As a millennium-long centre of power, culture and religion, you can visit the iconic Colosseum, the Vatican City or relax in the Borghese gardens amongst Mediterranean trees and tranquil fountains

DAY 6 – Rome – Private Walking Tour

You will meet our guide for a private walking tour of all the main sites of this iconic capital of culture.
3000 years of sporadic development has left Rome’s cityscape as an exhilarating spectacle. The ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Pantheon and Roman Forum recall the time as that Rome was regarded as the fearsome hub of the Roman Empire.

You will explore its picturesque street and in the late afternoon sunshine and have time to spend in street-side cafes and people-watching on pretty piazzas. A wealth of ornate piazzas and elaborate churches add a baroque style flourish to the city’s historic streets. The tempo certainly rises as the soaring heat of the day fades and the fashionably dressed crowd descend on Rome’s bars, trattorias and cafes.

DAY 7 – Flight to Split

 

After a short flight to Split, Croatia’s second largest city and one of its most treasured places, you will be driven to your hotel which is home to the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site of Diocletian’s Palace. Wander the cobbled streets, gazing up at the impressive architecture that covers some 2,000 years of history. Perhaps head to the top of Sveti Djue Cathedral to take in the incredible view over it all from the bell tower. Enjoy a drink in the royal court of Perisyle and explore the Temple of Jupiter. After a traditional Dalmatian dinner in one of the popular local restaurants, take a relaxing stroll along the charming Riva promenade.

DAY 8 – Split - Check into the cruise ship

 

Spend the morning at leisure, perhaps vising some of the nearby beaches or even the nearby medieval city of Trogir. Take the private transfer to your cruise ship where you will be able to check in from 1400hrs. You can relax in your deluxe cabin or join a guided tour of the beautiful historical old town. Split boasts an abundance of classic Roman architecture, which includes the impressive and imposing Diocletian Palace, the former home of a Roman Emperor. Return to the ship for the Welcome meet and greet cocktail reception on board. You will be introduced to the Captain, crew and fellow Croatia island hopping passengers. Overnight in Split.

DAY 9 – Brac/Hvar

Today we visit one of the area’s most beautiful and photographed beaches – the Zlatni Rat. Known as the Golden Cape, this long strip of white sandy beach is ideal for swimming and is close to the old fishing town of Bol on the island of Brac. After lunch on board, we visit the jet-set island of Hvar – the longest and sunniest island in the Adriatic. Flanked by colourful lavender fields, the island’s hub of Hvar Town is another historic marvel set against a backdrop of sun-bleached white houses and tranquil turquoise sea and exudes the magical Mediterranean charm of yesteryear. Gaze in awe at its landmark stunning cathedral and delight in the magical panoramas of the city, by walking to the top of the town fort. Spend a wonderful evening indulging in the bars, restaurants and cafes. Ovenight in Hvar.

DAY 10 – Vis

We head toward Bisevo to explore the breathtaking Blue Cave. A natural marvel, the Blue Cave is a sea grotto of illuminated light. Visit the remote but remarkable island of Vis, once home to a naval Yugoslav base which is entirely untouched and unspoilt but is famed for being the idyllic setting for the hit movie – Mama Mia 2! Discover the ancient northern side, known for being the first urban centre in Croatia and sample local wines from the island’s traditional wineries. Explore the city in your own pace and visit the ruins of a once magical Roman thermal place. Learn more at the City Museum or walk along the Villae Rusticae. Overnight in Vis.

DAY 11 – Korcula

Depart Vis and set sail towards the magnificent Korcula Island, famed for being the birthplace of the famous explorer, Marco Polo. Lunch at a secluded bay before taking a local guided tour through the charming old town, with its city walls and medieval architecture. Admire the unique fish bone street patterns in the Old Town where you can find a great selection of independent bars and restaurants to sample a range of tasty local food and take in some evening entertainment. An optional trip to a small village on the island for a local Dalmatian dinner. Overnight in Korcula.

Mljet

DAY 12 – Mljet National Park

Travel south to the island of Mljet, known for its legends that date back to Greek Mythology. The island is also known for its natural beauty with its stunning lush forests and unique salt lakes in Mljet National Park. After a guided tour through the lush woods towards the famous salt lakes, take a boat ride to St. Mary Isle, where you will find a delightful medieval church and a Benedictine monastery. If you’re feeling active, explore the island by renting kayaks, scooters or bicycles, the ideal way to experience the stunning national park. Overnight in Mljet National Park.

Day 13 - Slano/ Ston

 

The enchanting village of Slano, on the mainland, is our destination this morning. Slano is a peaceful traditional fishermen’s village and the entrance point to Ston, another fortified small village that is famous for its oysters. After exploring the town’s historical medieval ramparts, a short coastal walk will take you to an oyster farm, where you can sample fresh oysters and learn more about this delicacy. Enjoy a fine dinner at the Captain’s Dinner back on board with entertainment and music. Overnight in Slano/ Ston.

Day 14 - Dubrovnik

 

We will arrive at the captivating coastal city of Dubrovnik that needs little introduction with its iconic sights. It is a well-preserved ancient city that takes you back to the days of the Dubrovnik Republic. Learn about the rich history of the city, including the Renaissance and Gothic influences seen in the city’s architecture. Enjoy a guided walking tour through the old town and into the skies above the city on the cable car, offering the best views of city and islands. Take a leisurely afternoon stroll in the city scaling the city walls or simply treating yourself to a gourmet dinner or a refreshing cocktail with sea views. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 15 - Return Transfer to the airport

 

You will be collected by private transfer from your hotel and driven to Dubrovnik airport after a very memorable cruise and land tour adventure of Venice and Croatia.
